There is always more work you can do

Psalm 112:1-10

Reference: They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. (‭Psalm‬ ‭112‬:‭7‬ NIV)

Explore: Have you ever noticed that you can never get to the end of your housework? Sure, you may be able to complete a certain list of things to do for the day, but there is always more work you can do.

Even as you are completing all the loads of washing you know that whatever you are wearing is creating the next load! While you may feel very virtuous from cleaning out the pantry, there is still the garage that is in disarray.

I like to think I keep a fairly ordered home, but there are still many things I could be working on. My house is a work in progress… and always will be.

Application: I feel the same way about my faith. It is definitely a work in progress.

I read Psalm 112 and hear of the strength and stability of a righteous person and am reminded how far I still have to go. When bad things happen, I tremble and complain. My faith still has much room for growth.

And yet, my God is faithful, even though I waiver. And for that I will continue to strive, although at times I will fail, to improve my faith and grow closer to God. I believe there’s room for us all to grow there.

Prayer: Lord, we can never reach perfection in this fallen world. May we continue to work towards Your righteousness and love. Amen.

What area of your faith are you working on at the moment?
