The difference is that they don’t obey the excuses.

Psalm 110:1-7

Reference: The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of your enemies!” (‭Psalm‬ ‭110‬:‭2‬ NIV)

Explore: It can be tough to exercise regularly because there’s always places to find excuses.

It’s too hot. It’s too cold. It’s too dark. I’ve got too much to do. My running partner is away. I think I’m getting sick…

There is no end of excuses to stopping exercise and I think I’ve used all of them!

The difference with true athletes isn’t that they don’t think of the excuses. They could probably add a few more to my list! The difference is that they don’t obey the excuses.

They exercise in spite of the reasons not to. And they reap the benefits.

Application: This is true for our faith too. There are plenty of excuses not to be active in our faith, but God asks us to trust Him no matter what.

Psalm 110 tells of God encouraging King David to rule in the midst of his enemies. It was an encouragement to fulfil your call in spite of your circumstances.

What a great challenge for us too. No matter what is happening in our lives, no matter what our circumstances, never give up living the call God has placed on your life.

Prayer: Lord, give us resilience and strength that we may serve You diligently. Amen.

What excuse have you made recently?
