We stand to attention when we hear our names.

On social media there are clothing companies that put your name on jumpers within their ad. You don’t have to use your imagination to see your name in print. And it immediately catches your eye.
I work with another Linda and every time someone calls out to her, I immediately look up. We stand to attention when we hear or see our names.
Application: In Psalm 115, I feel like the writer is trying to catch our attention. Clearly they were not able to harness the technology we have today to insert your name into the text, but you can imagine it yourselves.
The writer has just expressed how ridiculous they think the human made idols are and then goes on to encourage people to trust in the real God.
He starts with the whole group of Israelites – trust in the Lord. Then to the house of Aaron – trust in the Lord. And then to anyone who fears God – trust in the Lord.

May you hear this encouragement from the psalmist and gather your strength from its truth.
Prayer: Lord, You are our help and shield. You are far greater than any other god we follow. Thank You for being someone in whom we can trust. Amen.
