I wasn’t able to participate in my congregation

Psalm 68:1-35

Reference: Praise God in the great congregation; praise the Lord in the assembly of Israel. (‭Psalm‬ ‭68‬:‭26‬ NIV)

Explore: There have been a few Sundays this year where I have missed church. Whether I was travelling or unwell, I wasn’t able to participate in my congregation on a Sunday.

Being mindful of this, as it’s not something I do often, I will try to listen to some Christian music throughout the day in a time of worship. But I always seem to come up lacking.

I have had many super spiritual moments outside of church services, however, whenever I try to replace a service with a couple of nice Christian songs, it never really cuts it.

One of the main reasons is because a big part of my worship is seeing other people worship. A cd in my car doesn’t quite give me the visual worship experience I’m used to on a Sunday.

It’s good that I can put some time aside for God, no matter where I am, but there’s something holistic for me when I gather with a whole group of people to worship.

Application: The Psalmist was a big one for praising God. And he was up for big time worship.

Imagine a whole nation praising God all at the same time! When all the tribes of Israel were on the right track with God, there would have been some incredible worship sessions.

So let’s not take our church services for granted. May we embrace them every chance we have, knowing that God is certainly worthy of our corporate praise.

Prayer: All honour and glory to You, O God, who is truly worthy of our praise. May we declare Your name every single day and then gather together, with all Your followers, to sing of Your great worth. Amen.
